This is just another one of those journals where I get to learn a little bit about YOU! I think it' small things like this that can be more revealing about someone, rather than the simple things like favorite color, food, etc.
As an example, I'll list a couple from me:
1. My teachers (especially my figure teacher) tend to get frustrated with me because I love including lots or reflective light in drawings, and because I love to exaggerate dark shades.
2. In relation to dark shades, or even colors, I love to make lightest lights and darkest darks in blocks, especially in full tonal, values drawings- thus the reason to why I tend to color hair in solid blacks, whites, or in blocks of colors.
3. I tend to use clashing colors in finished pieces that are very bright, but my favorite color scheme in the world is white, black, and red. But I rarely use it in my art.
4. I love contrasts (ie happy sounding music with melancholy lyrics). Which is why I like to use bright colors in character work, as my characters themselves are fairly dark
5. I love old movies (some of my favorites are Some Like it Hot, The Big Sleep, and Modern Times), classic pinups and burlesque, 1940s and 50s swing, and 1950s fashion, makeup and, more modern, tattoo and graffiti art. I tend to incorporate aspects of at least one of them into my personal pieces and designs (Harlow was heavily influenced by these things)
6. I'm very music oriented, and personal pieces are almost always inspired by songs (this is evident in my gallery, as the pieces are usually titled after the songs they're inspired by, and sometimes even contain lyrics from the said song).
7. I don't usually ink my drawings, and if I do, then I ink them last, after color has already been applied.
8. I love figure drawing and portraiture, probably because I love seeing differences in people, and I take the time to do it at least once weekly, even if I don't have it as an assigned class.
9. My favorite kind of art to look at is photography, and one of my favorite photographers is Diane Arbus.
10. I am not fond of anime/manga- some is done beautifully and I am fine with the genre, but my love of differentiating facial features/body types keeps me from fully appreciating it.
Your turn!
